If you are traveling to Northern Ireland you can´t miss The Giant´s Causeway.

Giant´s Causeway is a really remarkable place and has an area of 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, which is a result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption.

UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site in 1986 and the Department of the environment for Northern Ireland declared it as a national nature reserve in 1987.

Most of the columns are hexagonal and the tallest ones are about 12 metres high. The solidified lava in the cliffs is 28 metres thick in some places.
